Create A Channel
Adding device channel.
- “Channel”: In the context of IIoT, a channel refers to a communication pathway or interface that connects devices or systems together to exchange data or information.
- “Name”: Name is a field where a user can provide a unique identifier or label for a particular channel, device, or setting.
- “Communication Type”: Communication Type refers to the method or protocol used for data exchange between devices or systems, such as Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, etc.
- “Port Name”: Port Name is a field where a user can specify the name or address of the communication port that will be used for data communication, such as a serial port, IP address, or URL.
- “Slave Address”: Slave Address is a field that indicates the address of the target device in a communication system where data is being read from or written to. It is commonly used in protocols like Modbus or other similar systems.
- “Baudrate”: Baudrate refers to the data transmission rate or speed at which data is sent over a communication channel. It is usually measured in bits per second (bps) and determines how fast data can be transferred between devices.
- “Parity”: Parity is a type of error checking mechanism used in serial communication to detect and correct errors in transmitted data. It can be set to “No Parity”,”Even Parity” or “Odd Parity”.
- “Stopbits”: Stopbits are used in serial communication to indicate the end of a data frame. It represents the number of bits that are sent after the data bits and parity (if any). Common options for stopbits are “one” or “two” bits.
How To Create A Channel
- Double-click on the target device to open the “Device Properties” screen.
- Click on the “Channel” tab.
- Fill in the “Name” field with a name for the channel.
- Click on the “Communication Type” field and select an option from the drop-down list.
- Fill in the “Port Name” field with the name or address of the communication port to be used.
- Fill in the “Slave Address” field with the address of the target device for communication.
- Click on the “Baudrate” field and select an option from the drop-down list.
- Click on the “Parity” field and select an option from the drop-down list.
- Click on the “Stopbits” field and select an option from the drop-down list.
- Click on the “checkmark icon” in the top left corner to save the settings.
- The created channel will be displayed in the workspace of the platform and will be connected to the platform.
